Shahnaz Kapadia

Ms. Kapadia-Rahat brings 27-year experience in areas such as entrepreneurship, gender, capacity building, strategic planning & project management while serving reputable organizations like Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Government of Pakistan, Aga Khan University, UNICEF, CIDA, US Government, and the IBA, University of Karachi.

She is heading Empowerment Through Creative Integration (ECI) since 1989, as CEO and entrepreneur. ECI is a private limited company that works for uplifting the socio-economic status of the people at the grassroots level through entrepreneurship ideas. It works on five key thematic areas – livelihood & enterprise, agribusiness development, gender mainstreaming, organizational development, and good governance. ECI has conducted trainings in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Uganda and Sudan in collaboration with local partners.

Shahnaz has conducted innumerable trainings at national and international level in various capacities such as advisor, member, resource person, delegate for organization like FAO, CCIC, Grameen Bank (Bangladesh), Indian Institute of Management, USAID, MSI (USA), ICED (India), UNICEF, AIM (Manila). She has served in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Iran, India, Philippines, Pakistan, Thailand, and Uganda. She is the first and the only (to date) female trainer to receive Lead Trainer Certification for Entrepreneurship Development Training from MSI, USA. She has received the Superior Performance Award in the from the Program For Development Managers, Asian Institute of Management, (Philippines), the Fatima Jinnah Gold Award from the Government of Pakistan (GoP) for Superior Performance for the training of 40,000 women councillors, and the Mother Award from World Population Fund, for courage and bravery.

Shahnaz has a large number of publications to her name, particularly modules and material in gender, enterprise, health, education and generic management. She has published reports, case studies, research papers and has contributed to the finalization of tools, methodologies and models.
